In the coming years, 90 sub-areas are to become a small number of siting regions. In order to be able to propose siting regions, the BGE is developing methods for identifying those siting regions that are favourable for final disposal.

No. 1/21 - Two new boreholes started at Asse

From February onwards, the Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung (BGE) is expanding its exploratory work east of the Asse II mine. The two new boreholes will represent an important step towards the retrieval of radioactive waste, which is expected to begin in 2033.
