No. 04/17 – BGE Management introduce themselves. Public event on 22 June in the Morsleben Info Centre

The Board of Directors from the Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung mbH (BGE) will introduce themselves on 22 June 2017 at a public launch event at the Morsleben Info Centre. As the new operator of the Morsleben final repository and therefore a new stakeholder in the region, BGE managers are interested in discussing issues in person.

Amalienweg 1, 39343 Ingersleben OT Morsleben The Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung mbH (BGE) is a federal government company in the Federal Environment Ministry business area. On 25 April 2017, the BGE took over responsibility from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection as operator of the Asse II shaft mine and the Konrad and Morsleben final repositories. Its other responsibilities include the search for a final repository particularly for heat-generating radioactive waste. Managing Directors are Ursula Heinen-Esser (Chair), Dr. Ewold Seeba (Deputy Chair) and Prof. Dr. Hans-Albert Lennartz (Commercial Managing Director). The privately-run company of the Federal Government will exploit new opportunities to achieve project goals more effectively. The company will channel specialist expertise and exploit synergies. To serve this puropose, the Deutsche Gesellschaft zum Bau und Betrieb von Endlagern für Abfallstoffe mbH (DBE) [German Company for the Construction and Operation of Final Repositories for Waste Materials] and Asse GmbH will be merged with the BGE before the end of the year. This will ensure that the field of final storage remains completely under governmental responsibility. The primary priorities remain safety and expertise.
