The Supervisory Board of the Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung (BGE) has decided to appoint Jürgen Korth as Technical Managing Director of the BGE with effect from 1 July 2025. Korth is a graduate engineer and is currently Director of Technical Services at MIBRAG GmbH, a lignite mining company based in southern Saxony-Anhalt.
The new appointment is welcomed by Dr. Jan-Niclas Gesenhues, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Environment Ministry and Chair of the Supervisory Board: “In Jürgen Korth, we’re gaining a skilled manager with experience in project management and in leading large organisations, as well as several years of expertise in mining. In the future, he will be responsible for the Konrad, Asse, Morsleben and Gorleben divisions as well as the cross-sectional technical division.”
Dr Thomas Lautsch will remain in office until 30 June 2025 and will manage the company together with the two other managing directors, Iris Graffunder and Marlis Koop.
