The composition of the new supervisory board of the Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung (BGE) has been determined and was decided yesterday by the cabinet. The supervisory board composed as follows:

- Ursula Borak, Deputy Director at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy
- Dr Wolfgang Cloosters, head of directorate-general at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety
- Sabine Diehr, Head of Unit, Federal Ministry of Education and Research
- Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety
- Leonie Gebers, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
- Prof Dr Karin Holm-Müller, Chair of Resource and Environmental Economics, University of Bonn

The constituent meeting of the Supervisory Board will take place on 26 October 2018 in Berlin.
The BGE is a federally owned company within the portfolio of the Federal Environment Ministry. On 25 April 2017, the BGE assumed responsibility from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection as the operator of the Asse II mine and the Konrad and Morsleben repositories. Its other tasks include searching for a repository site for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste produced in Germany on the basis of the Repository Site Selection Act, which entered into force in May 2017. The managing directors are Stefan Studt (Chair), Steffen Kanitz (Deputy Chair) and Dr Thomas Lautsch (Technical Manager).
