The selection of a repository site for high-level radioactive waste in Germany is being carried out as a science-based, transparent and learning process. There are three eligible types of host rock.

Deep underground, the Asse II mine stores 47,000 cubic metres of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste. This is not a safe place for the waste to be. It must be retrieved, and the mine must then be decommissioned in accordance with the BGE’s legal mandate. Here, we provide an overview.

Announcement - Infomobile tour 2017

14 August 2017: Infomobile dates from 16 August to 6 September 2017

From 16 August to 9 September 2017, the Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung mbH (BGE) will be travelling around various sites in its Infomobile. Animations and films will show the current status of works in the Konrad and Morsleben final repositories and in the Asse II shaft mine. Using a multimedia application, visitors can furthermore obtain a comprehensive picture of current BGE projects. Infocentre employees are available to answer all questions about BGE projects. Appointments can be booked for individual project visits.
