The selection of a repository site for high-level radioactive waste in Germany is being carried out as a science-based, transparent and learning process. There are three eligible types of host rock.

Deep underground, the Asse II mine stores 47,000 cubic metres of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste. This is not a safe place for the waste to be. It must be retrieved, and the mine must then be decommissioned in accordance with the BGE’s legal mandate. Here, we provide an overview.

3 May 2017 – Seasonal start of the BGE infomobil on Wednesday, 10 May 2017

On Wednesday, 10 May 2017, the BGE starts this year's infomobil season. With our infomobil we visit the local communities and present our work. At central places we provide information about the project locations of the Asse II mine, the Konrad repository, and the Morsleben repository. Films and animations provide interested citizens with initial information and our employees would love to discuss with you. According to current plans, the infomobil will be in place at the following dates. Please note that there may be discrepancies. Shortly before the date we will inform you in further press releases about exact times and locations.
